Privacy Policy
Darwin's Sandbox Analytics. Effective October 17, 2026.
Darwin's Sandbox Analytics ("the app") is a private tool built and used by Jeff Burt to review the performance of his own YouTube channel, Darwin's Sandbox. It has one user: Jeff. This policy explains what Google user data the app accesses and what happens to it.
Data the app accesses
When Jeff signs in with his Google account, he grants the app two read-only permissions:
- View your YouTube account (
youtube.readonly): the channel's name and ID, its list of videos with their titles, descriptions, durations and privacy status, and public comments and replies on those videos. - View YouTube Analytics reports (
yt-analytics.readonly): channel and video statistics such as views, watch time, audience retention, traffic sources, subscriber changes, impressions and click-through rate.
Public comments include the commenter's public display name and channel link, as YouTube shows them on the video page. The app does not access email addresses, contacts, private messages, payment details, or any Google service other than YouTube.
How the data is used
The data is used only to produce reports for Jeff about his own channel: which videos are watched, where viewers drop off, and what commenters ask about. Those reports guide which videos he makes next. The data is not used for advertising, is not sold, and is not used to build profiles of individual viewers.
Where the data is stored
Downloaded data and the reports made from it are saved as files on Jeff's own computer. The sign-in token that lets the app read the channel is stored on that same computer, readable only by Jeff's user account. The app has no server and no database, and does not upload the data anywhere.
Sharing
The data is not shared with, sold to, or transferred to anyone. The one exception would be a legal requirement to disclose it.
Retention and deletion
Data is kept for as long as it is useful for comparing the channel's videos over time. Jeff can delete it at any time by deleting the local files.
Access can be revoked at any time from Google's third-party access settings. Revoking it stops the app from reading any further data.
Google and YouTube policies
The app uses YouTube API Services. By using it you are also subject to the YouTube Terms of Service, and data handled by Google is covered by the Google Privacy Policy.
The app's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be posted on this page with a new effective date.
